We have had this trailer for about four years; it is mainly needed for transporting my wife’s mobility scooter over long distances.

The above Swift caravan has been our touring van since 1994.

I had to do some extra National Service in the RAF during the Summer holidays when I was a student at Chester College. I had two flights as a passenger in the above type of aircraft and this is the extent of my flying experience.

The pilot for the above was keeping up his flying technique as he may have been recalled at any time for active service in the Korean War. He was also most probably a survivor of WW2 having been a spitfire pilot or similar.

In the above instance I counted as “air crew” for a few hours and was able to speak. The two wings of the bi plane were separated by struts and held rigid by tensioning wires stretched diagonally across. I noticed in flight that these wires seemed rather slack and on landing I observed that they were meant to be tensioned by bottle screws. The pilot was most grateful to have this pointed out and set off to speak to the ground crew. This was my first item of “voluntary” work as an engineer! It was  fortuitous that my last item of national service finished the next day, before I met the RAF Hornchurch maintenance ground crew!!

The above twin axle lunar caravan was used as a holiday mobile home between 1990 and 2006. We now have a similar slightly  larger and more recent caravan.

The downward sloping front of the bottom section of the Lunar caravan will have increased the aerodynamic lift (the Ace Pioneer was the same) and been a factor in these caravans being very liable to snaking.

The Jaguar 21 above was towed on the road with a Rover SDI 3500 V8 at first and then a Land Rover Discovery. It was owned between 1988 and 2010. We now have a Westerly 22 sailing cruiser which I do not intend to trail on the road.

The above was the original sales brochure from when the boat was new in about 1982 and is shown to confirm that it was being marketed as a “Trailer Sailer.”  t

The above shows that it can be sailed aswell as towed by a car.

The top photograph shows a Bradwell 18 sailing cruiser that I owned between 1976 and 1988.

The second photograph shows an Ace Pioneer Caravan which was our touring van between 1982 and 1994.
